This iteration is made from Japanese Ezo Shika deerskin leather. Native to Japans northern Hokkaido region, Ezo Shika deer are the largest of the Shika subspecies and endure harsh, snowy climates. Historically used by the indigenous Ainu people and even in samurai armor, this leather remains prized for its strength and resilience. The Ezo Shika are wild deer and the leather comes un-corrected and may feature natural imperfections and scarring. Each pair uses two layers: an oil-tanned leather lining and a wax-finished, burnished outer shell.
