When it comes to corduroy, its best to navigate on the edges. The middle, as with most things, is uninspiring, which is why I prefer the heavy wales or the fines.

Take this pinwale for example.

A century and a half ago, the blacksmith, his leathered visage caked in soot, his thick corduroy clothing the last line of defense against the rogue spark or sliver of slag attempting to sneak its way through his apron, wore corduroy not so much as a piece of clothing but as armor.

My, how far its come.

So supremely non-calloused.
