You dont have to climb the 248 steps to the top of Teotihuacan (pyramids built upon pyramids) to understand the history that goes into the patterns you see here, but it helps.

In the late 15th century, when the Aztec empire was at its apex, textiles were so highly regarded that they were treated as a form of currency. The emperor would award textiles to nobles and distinguished warriors, and his conquered subjects often paid taxes using finely-crafted blankets decorated with designs of conch shells, jaguars, or other symbols from their home nations.

We set out to translate all of this onto an immensely comfortable henley shirt. The kind of shirt archaeologists might admire a few hundred years from now.
